La Cala de Mijas is the central point of Mijas Costa near Fuengirola. From being a tiny village, Cala de Mijas has grown in size but still retains its ‘Andalucian by the coast’ charm and atmosphere. There are many excellent bars and restaurants close to hand with stalls aplenty at its Wednesday and Saturday market. La Cala has its own fiestas in July and August and during these months La Cala becomes magical. Music and flamenco dancing fill the promenade, to a back drop of the 16th Century Torre Vieja watchtower in the moonlight reflecting across the Mediterranean.
